Multiple Teams · Varsity Girls Tie for 3rd Place

After a slow start the Varsity Lady Cardinals made a legitimate run for the playoffs this season.  The Lady Cardinals ended the regular season with a district record of 7 wins and 5 losses which put them in a tie for 3rd place with Santa Maria and a chance at the playoffs.  Our girls fell short with a loss in a seeding game versus Santa Maria to end the season, but  despite this loss, Coach Rodriguez was very happy with the season and the future.  “Not many teams can say they made a run for the playoffs with the young team we had.  We had 5 freshmen, 3 sophmores, 1 junior, and 1 senior.  Many people didn’t expect us to win any district games and we almost made the playoffs.  We expect to be in the district race next year.”  The girls will lose 1 player, senior Amber Pinales.  “It will be tough losing a senior leader like her but we will be very strong and more experienced next year,” said Rodriguez.
